GISF002 Statistics for Business and Economics (연구방법론)
The purpose of this course is to provide basic tools to understand and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, thus helping students acquire fundamental and important knowledge of statistics for their research and business. This course introduces basic concepts and theories of statistics, and applies those statistics to actual business and economics data. Specifically, the course covers various topics including organizing variables, numerical descriptive measures, probability distributions, confidence interval estimation, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis.
GISF003 Int’l Economic Analysis (국제경제분석)
This course introduces two main branches of international economics: international trade and international finance. The course enables students to understand key concepts and evidence of international economic models and international economic policy tools as their applications to practice, so prepare for advanced courses in international trade and international finance programs. This course presumes that students have an overview of introductory micro and macroeconomics covered by Economic Analysis (GISE001).
GISF004 Econometric Analysis (연구방법론 Ⅱ)
This course offers introductory applied econometrics to students to be equipped with quantitative research methods. Students will practice data analysis with several examples in the context of international economics. It is strongly recommended for students who consider writing a thesis or doctoral study in the future. This course assumes that students have an overview of basic statistics covered by Statistics for Business and Economics (GISF002).
GISC101 Financial Institutions and System (금융경제론)
This course begins with an overview of the financial system and introduces the roles of central banks and financial markets including the money and capital markets and stock market. This course also covers basic theories of financial intermediation, interest rate, bond price, and exchange rate determinations. In addition, the course provides students with introductions to the role and business of various financial institutions and funds such as commercial bank, investment bank, insurance companies, pension fund, mutual fund, private equity fund and so on. The course further discusses the financial regulation and supervision.
GISC102 Financial Management (재무관리)
This course is designed to help students acquire fundamental knowledge of corporate financial management. The course focuses on an overview of corporate finance, corporate governance issues, the analysis of financial statements, valuation tools in finance, the valuation of representative assets, and important methods for analyzing a firm’s investment and financing decisions. Furthermore, academic and practical issues of financial management are discussed through relevant research and case studies.
GISC103 Int’l Finance (국제금융론)
This course provides students a systematic analysis of various issues in international finance and investment with the background of global financial markets including global flows of funds and international financial markets. The course covers basic theories of international macroeconomics, international monetary system, and relevant contemporary issues pertaining to the global financial system (e.g., financial crisis and capital controls, investment banking, and the US and global financial regulation).
GISC104 Investments (투자론)
This course is designed to help students understand a broad set of knowledge of investments related to investment analyses and decisions. The course studies the risk-return tradeoff, the modern portfolio theory, asset pricing models, and the efficient market hypothesis, as well as valuation skills of popular investment assets. Further, investment simulation is used to provide students with hands-on investing experience.
GISC105 Derivatives (파생상품론)
The objective of this course is to provide students with practical knowledge of financial derivatives and their risk management. This course introduces the concepts, tools, and terminology of derivatives, as well as an overview of derivate markets. Then, the course focuses on the pricing of popular financial derivatives such as forward, futures, options, and swaps, and studies how to manage the risks of financial derivatives.
GISC106 Financial Accounting (재무회계)
This course provides an in-depth analysis of numerous accounting topics including financial reporting, adjusting and closing journal entries, the statement of cash flows, time value of money, short-term operating assets, accounting for income taxes, and accounting for stockholders’ equity, liabilities, and EPS. Moreover, IFRS is discussed throughout the course. This course gives students the opportunity to develop problem-solving skills, apply their judgment, and work with real companies’ financial problems.
GISC107 Corporate Financial Policy (기업재무정책)
This course is designed to help students understand corporate financial policies and decisions. This course begins with the understanding of risk and return. The course then covers how firms strategically raise funds to finance their projects. In addition, the course introduces various theories of capital structure and discusses the capital structure decisions of firms. Other issues on corporate financial policies include corporate payout policy, mergers and acquisitions (M&As), risk management, and options related to corporate finance. Furthermore, the course applies acquired knowledge to practical issues through case studies.
