GISB201 Int’l Trade and Development (국제통상과 경제발전)
This course aims to understand the impacts of globalization in developing countries and their international trade and development policies. The course introduces students to key approaches to the analysis of international trade and economic development and discusses the recent debates around trade and development, including WTO and developing countries, Aid for Trade, regional trade agreement of developing countries, international trade and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and others.
GISB202 Case Analysis on Int’l Trade Disputes (통상분쟁사례연구)
This course is designed to deepen the understanding of the legal and institutional issues in the world trading system, mainly through analyzing specific dispute cases. In this course, students will critically examine the strengths and weaknesses of the WTO dispute settlement mechanism reflected in trade dispute cases and discuss the linking legal issues of past disputes with more recent affairs that are yet limitedly dealt with in the institution.
GISB203 Regional Economic Integration (지역경제통합론)
This course investigates the theory and practice of economic integration. The main topics are the welfare effects of economic integration, regionalism and multilateralism, case studies of regional integration for the EU, USMCA (former NAFTA), and recent mega-FTAs.
GISB204 Multinational Corp. & Global Strategy (다국적기업과 글로벌전략)
Multinational firms that control and operate resources in multiple countries worldwide are the main actors in international business. This course explores how multinational corporations build their strategy with managerial, financial, legal, and cultural constraints. Students will understand how global strategy carried out by multinationals is different from firm strategy in a purely domestic setting. Specifically, the course enables students to gain insight into why global strategy is unique, how firms can create value by globalizing, how firms should organize themselves to derive maximum value from being global, and how firms act upon external shocks such as a pandemic or economic transformation.

This course discusses the business strategies of leading countries and multinational corporations and how they deploy these strategies, focusing on the East Asian economy.
GISB206 Int’l Marketing (국제마케팅론)
This course introduces students to a basic fundamental of marketing management in the global context. Students will examine the international similarities and differences in marketing functions related to different economic, social, and cultural environments. The course will discuss the changes in marketing systems and the adoption of marketing philosophies and practices to fill conditions in different countries.
GISB207 E-Commerce and Digital Trade (전자상거래와 디지털무역)
Information Technology is constantly evolving – making trade easier, quicker and cheaper, and making it possible to trade things that couldn’t be traded before. The course offers the opportunity to review various discussions as to the digital trade.
GISB208 Political Economy of Int’l Trade Policy (통상정책의 정치경제학)
This course aims to understand the theoretical and historical background of the political economy of international trade policy. The course covers a brief history of international trade and the multilateral trading system, political economy models of international trade, and the current international trade issues from a view of the political economy, such as the recent US-China trade conflict and the emergence of inward-looking trade policies reflecting the discontents of globalization.

The link between trade and the environment emerged as one of the most critical challenges to the multilateral trading system since the Uruguay Round. This course investigates the issues related to trade and the environment. Topics include WTO and Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs), green taxes, eco-dumping, product standards, eco-labeling, etc.

GISB216 Quantitative Analysis in Int’l Trade (국제무역의 실증분석)
This course enables students to develop a quantitative analytic skill-set to evaluate international trade theory and policies. It is strongly recommended for students who consider writing a thesis or doctoral study in the future. This course assumes that students have an overview of basic statistics covered by Statistics for Business and Economics (GISF002) and international economics offered by International Economic Analysis (GISF003).
