Q What do you look for in an applicant?
A GSIS seeks to admit applicants with a combination of proven academic ability and English verbal capability. Your statement of purpose and grades of undergraduate or graduate school are important.
Q How important is the previous academic knowledge or professional work experience for an applicant?
A As we have got many applicants with various backgrounds, there are no firm requirements or prerequisites for applying. However, applicants are expected to answer related to their intended concentration during the personal interview.
Q Is the personal interview required?
A Yes. The personal interview is mandatory. In the case of overseas, we will have the interview via online (Zoom).
Q I have attended several colleges and universities and have several diplomas. Do I have to submit all of these?
A Yes. You must submit all the related certificates of any degrees you have or courses you have completed. If you have attended a program but did not complete it, you are not required to submit any transcript for that program. However, if you have participated in an exchange student program, you should submit the transcript of the program. (If your official transcript includes grades from the exchange program, you don’t have to submit an additional transcript.)
Q What am I required to submit?
A Refer to 'Admissions'.
Q Do you have any special requirements for international students?
A International students must submit one (1) letter of recommendation written by their professor, in addition to the standard application form. Refer to 'Admissions'. We recommend that international applicants take into account potential delivery delays, particularly as the deadline approaches. Please mail you application in sufficient time.
Q Do I need to have my foreign documents translated?
A All foreign documents must be translated by an official translator and notarized as authentic translations by a notary public.
Q What are the application deadlines?
A GSIS posts admission notice in March or September and you can check the exact deadline for application. Generally, the deadline for the spring semester is in the first week of November. The first week of May is the deadline for the fall semester. International students can apply throughout the year. Refer to 'Admissions'.
Q Do I need to notify GSIS after I mail my application materials?
A We recommend you to inform the office once you have mailed the application to our office through an e-mail.(E-MAIL: gsis@sogang.ac.kr)
Q When and how do you inform students the decision of acceptance?
A The exact day of notification of admission will be posted on the website.
Q Does GSIS have early admission?
A No. GSIS abides by an official admission schedule from the opening of the application period to the notice of acceptance. However, we hold the admission for international students throughout the year.
Q If I am not admitted, can I reapply?
A Yes. You can reapply, but you must submit all the application materials again.
Q Do I have to send all the parts of the application package together?
A Yes. All the parts of the application package must be sent at the same time.
