Q How long are the programs?
A The degree programs require 45 credits for graduation, which usually requires four semesters.
(Thesis writing for Ph.D. program can require more semesters.)

Q What are the requirements for graduation?
A M.A. program - 45 credits
Ph.D. program - 45 credits + thesis

Q Is a thesis required for graduation?
A A thesis is not essential for the M.A. program. But for the Ph.D. program, students must write a thesis for graduation.

Q How many applicants do you accept?
A GSIS accepts 40 applicants for the M.A. program and 5 applicants for the Ph.D program per year. International students are not included in this quota.

Q How many students are in the program?
A There are around 140 students at GSIS.

Q How many international students attend GSIS?
A Around 90 % of the students of GSIS are international students.

Q Are there any TA or RA positions available?
A GSIS students are able to apply for the positions for RA, but TA positions are not available.

Q How much does the program cost?

Q Do I have to take any official English test?
A Yes. Applicants including international students (Except native English speakers) must submit an official TOEFL, TOEIC, TEPS or IELTS score. However, If you obtained your B.A. in the institutions where English is the official language, you don’t need to submit a score. In this case, you have to obtain and submit an official document from your home university that to proof your whole degree program (courses) was instructed (conducted) in English.
