Thesis (논문)

Students who completed the course of a study(수료) and plan to write the thesis should register for the thesis course through the SAINT during the course registration period: 

• Thesis for MA : GISG006졸업논문(석사) 

• Thesis for Ph.D. : GISG007졸업논문(박사)

▷ MA Program

→ For the MA program, thesis writing is optional. So students can choose,

  Option 1 : taking 15 courses (45 Credits)

  Option 2 : taking 13 courses (39 Credits) + writing a thesis (6 Credits)

• MA students who want to write the thesis must submit thesis plans under the guidance of their thesis advisors in the designated period of the 3rd semester. 

• Students should inform GSIS office in advance if they want to cancel the thesis writing.

• In order to submit the thesis, MA students must register in the given semester and receive the guidance for the thesis writing from the thesis advisor.

• Thesis for the MA program should get passed from the Thesis Screening Committee within 7 years since the admission date for the graduation. (The period for the military service shall not be included.)

▷ Ph.D. Program

→ For the Ph.D. program, thesis writing is obligatory for the graduation.

(There is no credit for the thesis of the Ph.D. program.)

• All students of the Ph.D. program must submit thesis plans under the guidance of their thesis advisors in the designated period of the 3rd or 4th semester. 

• In order to submit the thesis, Ph.D. students must register in both the previous and given semester, and receive the guidance for the thesis writing from the thesis advisor.

• Thesis for the Ph.D. program should get passed from the Thesis Screening Committee within 10 years since the admission date for the graduation. (The period for the military service shall not be included.)
