Profile

Prior to coming to Sogang GSIS, Professor Ahn Se-Young had been working in the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Also, he served as an Assistant Secretary for Trade Policy in the office of President (Blue House) and Investment Promotion Office in the United Nation's Industrial Development Organization (Washington IPS, U.S.A). His major job in the government agencies was to negotiate with Korea's trading partners and implement trade policies. He played a major role in the 1997 US-Korea Automotive Negotiation. Professor Ahn was also involved in APEC and ASEM Summit Meetings and Trade Minister 's Negotiations with USA, Canada, Japan, Chile, etc. He also advised Korean and U.S firms with respect to their globalization and international negotiation strategies, helping them to penetrate overseas markets. Actually, he is a member of the Advisory Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade as well as the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. He authored numerous books and articles in the field of international trade, negotiation and business including Global Negotiation Strategy (2003), Multinational Enterprise (1998), and Industrial Policy (1996). He retired as the Director General of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy in 2000, and joined Sogang GSIS in 2000. He was the Dean of Sogang GSIS from 2004 to 2006 spring semester.
