1. Please introduce yourself (background, interests, your MBTI, and so on)

Sabaidee, hello. My name is Mr. PHENGMEUANGKHOUN Souksavanh, but most people call me Bobby, so please call me Bobby. I am from Laos, and I am currently studying at Sogang GSIS. I would describe my MBTI as an ambivert, as I have both introverted and extroverted characteristics.

In my daily life, I enjoy listening to music and watching football matches as well as movies. I also like outdoor activities such as hiking, and I have a strong interest in flowers and dogs. In addition, I enjoy video editing, and sometimes I like to sing. I also enjoy marathon running and camping with my friends. In terms of personality, I am not very comfortable in crowded places. I usually prefer listening rather than speaking. However, when I feel comfortable with people, I can become very talkative and lively.

2. Can you tell us the reason why you chose to study at Sogang GSIS?

I have two main reasons why I decided to study at Sogang GSIS were the Student Council and the quality of courses.

Firstly, in the case of the Student Council, I believe that the GSIS Student Council in Sogang is highly active and has activities. Such activities enable the students to have time together beyond the classroom, which will build a good relationship and a sense of belonging. Moreover, there are elections and possibilities of new members to become part of the Student Council in every semester. I believe that it is an excellent chance to allow students to have the best experience and leadership skills.

Secondly. Academically, I observed that the courses are frequently revised in accordance with the current global issues and transformations within the international environment. The courses are also very academic and difficult, this enables the students to develop better critical thinking and knowledge. In addition, the professors are very cordial and easy to interact with thus making the learning process more exciting and interesting.

3. How do you usually spend your spare time in Korea?

In my free time in Korea, I usually like to visit different famous places and attractions. However, most of the time, I enjoy going shopping because it allows me to explore new things that I have never seen before. Sometimes, when I have free time, I also like to eat and go to the cinema. Watching movies helps me relax, clear my mind, and makes me feel happy.

For me, I don’t have one specific favorite place in Seoul. Instead, I feel that every place I have visited in Korea is special to me. This is because each place shows me how modern and developed the country is. At the same time, these places allow me to spend time with myself and enjoy my life more.

5. Any recommendations or know-how on life in Korea?

In my opinion, living in Korea can be quite challenging, because I had to leave my home country and adapt to a completely new environment. Everything here feels new, and there is a high level of competition, particularly in education. However, it is also a very valuable experience. Living here helps me grow as a person, especially in terms of decision making and academic development. In addition, I have the opportunity to study and live with many talented people.
