1. Please introduce yourself (background, interests, your MBTI, and so on)
Hi ! I'm Jules, 25, from France.
I’m currently in my 4th semester of the International Trade major here at Sogang GSIS.
Before joining this program, I completed a Bachelor’s in International Trade & Management, followed by a job as a Trade Finance Officer in a bank.
It was actually during an internship that I first discovered South Korea,
and that’s when the idea of doing a Master’s here started to grow. Also, as an International Trade major,
I thought it was important to have as much experience abroad as possible.
After months of resistance, I finally gave in and took the MBTI test, apparently, I'm an ISTJ.
But honestly, my friends refuse to believe I'm an introvert, and even if the test says ISTJs are all about structure and rules… I promise I’m still a bit funny.

2. Can you tell us the reason why you chose to study at Sogang GSIS?
Several reasons led me to choose Sogang. Of course, the university's excellent reputation played a big role.
But what truly convinced me was the positive feedback I got from alumni of different GSIS programs across Korea.
That, plus some very practical reasons: the application process was impressively clear and simple.
I had some administrative issues during my admission, and the support I received
from the Sogang GSIS office really made me feel like I was making the right choice.
3. How do you usually spend your spare time in Korea?
Outside of studying, I spend a lot of time with friends, working out, hiking, or, whenever I can, traveling.
One thing I love about living in Korea is how affordable eating out is compared to France.
It makes it easy to gather with friends, discover Korean food, and sometimes try each other’s home cuisines.
(And yes, it often end the night in Itaewon)
What I also love about Seoul is how quickly you can escape the busy city
for a peaceful forest hike, and be rewarded with a stunning view of the skyline.
And being here for two years is a great opportunity to explore Korea and the rest of Asia without breaking the bank.
I’ve already been to Jeju, China, Japan, Vietnam… and I always keep an eye on flight deals!

4. Can you recommend your favorite place/spot in Seoul?
That’s tough.. there are so many great spots!
I could keep it simple and say the area around Sogang and the Gyeongui Line which is full of nice cafe and restaurant.
But if I had to pick, I’d say Jongno3ga in spring and fall.
At that time of year, restaurants open up outdoor seating along the streets — with plastic chairs and a buzzing, youthful vibe.
It’s not about the fanciest food or cheapest price, but the atmosphere is unbeatable: lively, friendly, and full of energy.

5. Any recommendations or know-how on life in Korea?
I may not be original here, but as a non-Korean speaker, Papago is a must.
Even though Koreans can be reserved at first,
you'll see that they’re always willing to help if you approach politely.
When signing housing contracts, hand gestures don’t always cut it, so be patient and resist the urge to go full pali-pali. Take your time, and once you're settled in, download Coupang and enjoy the deals!
6. Can you share your most memorable experience at Sogang GSIS with us?
I know many people would write about the university festival
and I have to at least mention about PSY performance,
but I’ll go with something more personal, the major dinners each semester.
Having dinner with fellow students and professors in a casual setting is something I wasn’t used to.
These moments helped us create stronger bonds and go beyond the typical professor-student relationship.
It made the GSIS experience even more unique and warm.

7. Do you have any advice for the prospective students at Sogang GSIS?
Don’t miss any opportunity, time really flies!
As someone in their final semester, I can’t believe how fast these two years have gone.
It’s so important to take full advantage: join clubs, attend events (fun or academic), and just enjoy the experience.
8. Do you have anything to say to Sogang GSIS?
Just a big thank you to the professors and the administration alike.
Without their support and the positive environment they create,
I wouldn’t have had such a fulfilling and unforgettable two years here. I’m deeply grateful!
