1. Please introduce yourself (background, interests, your MBTI, and so on)

Hello! I’m MIRSHOD. Currently I’m doing my 3rd semester at SOGANG University, GSIS - majoring in International Relations and minoring in International Trade. Originally from Uzbekistan, I’ve always been fascinated by global politics and diplomacy, which has shaped my academic path. My interests include conflict resolution, global economics, and cultural diplomacy, and I enjoy engaging in discussions on these topics. My MBTI is ENFJ, which means I can excel in roles that involve leadership, counseling, or any position that requires strong interpersonal skills. Outside of academics, I love traveling, participating in cultural events, doing supporter programs, making contents for Instagram and sometimes shooting in dramas.

2. Can you tell us the reason why you chose to study at SOGANG GSIS?

I chose SOGANG GSIS for its strong emphasis on a comprehensive understanding of international issues and its unique blend of theoretical and practical approaches. The faculty’s expertise and the diverse student body enrich the learning experience, allowing for insightful discussions and networking opportunities. Additionally, SOGANG’s location in Seoul, a major hub for international relations in East Asia, provides access to various organizations and events that enhance my academic journey.

3. How do you usually spend your spare time in Korea?

In my spare time, mostly I enjoy exploring the vibrant culture of Korea. I often visit local markets, try different cuisines, and participate in cultural festivals. Currently, I am one of the KOREAZ (by MOFA) and WeKO (by KOICA) program supporters. That’s why I have focused on creating various contents to promote MOFA and KOICA. This involves researching and developing articles, videos, and social media posts that promote cultural diplomacy and international cooperation. I also enjoy exploring Korea’s rich cultural heritage by visiting historical sites and participating in local events, which enriches my understanding and inspires my content. Engaging with fellow supporters at workshops and community activities further enhances my experience and commitment to these initiatives. Staying active is important to me, so I enjoy doing taekwondo as well.

4. Can you recommend your favorite place/spot in Seoul?

One of my favorite spots in Seoul is the Bukchon Hanok Village. It beautifully showcases traditional Korean architecture and offers a glimpse into the country’s history. Walking through the narrow alleys and visiting the quaint tea houses is a relaxing experience. The view of the city from the higher points in Bukchon is also stunning, especially during sunset.

5. Any recommendations or know-how on life in Korea?

One key piece of my advice for living in Korea is to embrace the culture. Learning basic Korean skills can go a long way in making connections and showing respect. Also, taking part in local customs and festivals can provide deeper insights into the culture. Networking with both locals and fellow international students is invaluable; you never know when an opportunity might arise.

6. Can you share your most memorable experience at SOGANG GSIS with us?

Actually, every single day is full of experience in our SOGANG GSIS. One of my most memorable experiences at SOGANG GSIS was organizing the Orientation Day for new Spring-2024 students. As a student council member, I was responsible for creating engaging content to promote the event on our Instagram. The energy of bringing everyone together for the first time was incredible. We arranged fun activities, had delicious dinner, and facilitated networking among students. Seeing new friendships form and the excitement on everyone’s faces made all the planning worthwhile, and it truly highlighted the welcoming spirit of our community.
