Absences (유고결석)

Absences with special reasons like the following can be permitted with the approval of the Dean of GSIS.

(1) Death of immediate family members:

  - 7 days (including weekends) for the death of a parent, parent-in-law, or sibling

  - 3 days (including weekends) for the death of a grandparent

(2) Marriage of the student

  - Up to 7 days (including weekends)

(3) Hospitalization or medical treatment due to injury or contagious illness, as confirmed by a doctor’s note indicating the student is unfit to attend class

  - Up to 2 weeks

(4) Overseas business trip (Not internship)

(5) Domestic business trip (Not internship)

  - Excused absences for domestic trips are limited to 1 week

(6) Reserve military training

(7) Participation in events or meetings at the request of government agencies

(8) Participation in important on-campus or off-campus events at the request of the university

(9) Attendance at important academic conferences or seminars (domestic or international)

  - Additional Requirement for Items 7-9: To qualify for an excused absence under items 7-9, students must submit documented proof that they received prior approval from the program director or the head of the office at Sogang GSIS.

* Please note that all absences must be supported by official documentation (e.g., hospital records, official invitations, travel orders, etc.) and approved by the Dean in order to be officially recognized as excused.

* The maximum period of permitted absences is 2 weeks for the whole reason all together.
