Waiver (학점인정)

Two kinds of waiver request would be admitted.

(1) Waiver of Courses - from the Undergraduate School 

→ Credits can't be waived.

• Students who are to request the waiver of the courses below should submit the form to the office with a copy of the undergraduate transcript after getting the signature of the program director in the 1st semester. Late submission is not allowed.

• Students can request a waiver for the following 4 courses :

- Economic Analysis (경제분석)(GSIE001)

- Introduction to International Relations (국제관계개론)(GISE002)

- Statistics for Business and Economics (연구방법론)(GISF002)

- International Economic Analysis (국제경제분석)(GISF003)

• The grade of the class you have taken should be equal to or more than “B+”.

  * Economic Analysis: Those who majored in Economics or took classes of Economics, such as Principles of Economics, Macroeconomics or Microeconomics in the undergraduate level can be approved of the waiver for this subject by the program director of your major.

  * Introduction to International Relations, Statistics for Business and Economics, or International Economic Analysis: Consult with the program director of your major.

• Make sure that you should take other courses instead of these courses since credits can’t be waived. 

(2) Waiver of Courses and Credits - from the Graduate School  

→ Both credits and courses can be waived. 

• Students who are to request the waiver of the courses from your MA program should submit the form to the office with a copy of your graduate transcript after getting the signature of the program director in the 1st semester. Late submission is not allowed.

• Students can request a waiver for all courses with the approval of the program director.

• The grade of the class you have taken should be equal to or more than “B+”.

▷ MA Students: You can get a waiver up to 12 credits (4 courses) with the approval of the program director if you took the MA program before Sogang GSIS. 

▷ Ph.D. Students: You can get a waiver up to 15 credits (5 courses) from the MA program with the approval of the program director.
